➳ C | This is 40

This post is a little late, but it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t start it off by wishing this beauty the most fabulous birthday yet.

I honestly couldn’t think of a more perfect person to do this shoot with. This girl, literally owns who she is, & is her absolute best self when she stays true to that.

We had so much fun laughing the afternoon sun away, guarding cake from curious puppy’s as they walked by, and capturing what it means to turn 40. From crowns, & tutus – to cake & wine, she literally embraces everything great that life has to offer.

I hope that this year is filled with more love then one can imagine, exciting adventures, beautiful memories, belly laughter, & dreams that come true.

We took a little road trip a few weeks ago, & although we went to a place we have adventured to many times before – the scenery never seems to be the same. The seasons come and go, leaving little marks along the way as they change & pass through.

This trip was different from the last. The last time we made this drive, it was in the warm summer sun. Everything was rich with green hues, and the birds were chirping lovely songs of summer. This time though, the cool breeze rustled the long grass, the sky was painted in brilliant fall colours, and I couldn’t help but marvel at the season newly ended, & the one to come.

Life gets busy. Sometimes so busy that we forget to appreciate the beauty all around us. We are often so consumed that we take Mother Nature for granted. The beauty in what was, & what will become. For instance the rickety old farm house sitting quietly in the field along the highway, or the crisp perfect orange tones weaving through the sunset on a cool autumn evening. There is beauty all around us, sometimes it just takes those quiet moments, when life slows down – even for a second – to truly appreciate it.

If you follow me on Ig, you know that this weekend, I was asked to take photos for a truly amazing couple as they exchanged their vows in front of their family & friends.

This wedding was quickly planned, however it turned out absolutely gorgeous. It was filled with precious moments, two families uniting as one, & not a dry eye in the whole hall.

It is so incredibly important to remember to cherish every memory you make, especially the moments that take your breath away. It’s important to spend time, to stop & listen, to take pictures – oh so many pictures.

This is not from a photo session, this was just a visit, in which I happened to snap this picture. I am aware there are places of over exposure and darker shadowing – but none of that matters when the meaning behind the picture far outweighs those technical issues. This photo is filled with love, which makes it so incredibly valuable.

Sometimes the imperfect photos, end up becoming our favorites – and this will always be one of mine.
